Felipe Carrion Torres, 78, of Lorain, died peacefully on Friday, July 13, 2012, surrounded by family at New Life Hospice Center. He was born in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico on February 5, 1934.
He moved to Lorain in 1950 with his mother and 13 siblings. Mr. Torres was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain. He was a deeply religious and generous man. His mission in life was to help the needy, the elderly and the poor. Felipe retired from Thew Shovel Co., Lorain. He worked there for over 20 years.
Survivors include his brothers Domingo Carrion, of Port St, Lucie, Florida, Felix and Genaro Carrion, both of Lorain and Louis Carrion, of Orlando, Florida; sisters Ernesta Contreras and Maria Berrios, both of Lorain, Inocencia Torres, of Lares, Puerto Rico, Felisa Solis Ortiz, of Melbourne, Florida, Sister Joaquina M.S.B.T., of Ponce, Puerto Rico, Isabel Van Deventer, of Saline, Michigan, and Regina Medina, of Sunrise, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents Hermogenes Carrion and Pilar Torres; sister Paulita Ergh and brother Ignacio Carrion.
Felipe's family will receive friends Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain (440) 277-8164, where closing prayers will be Monday at 8:45 a.m. then Mass of Christian burial in Sacred Heart Chapel at 9:30 a.m., 3401 Pearl Avenue, Lorain, Rev. Father William A. Thaden, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
