Genaro loved dancing, planting his garden, making his famous dish, Mondongo, singing along to “Los Panchos”. He enjoyed telling his own jokes and was the life of the party. Genaro was very family oriented.

Genaro “Gino” “Prieto” Carrion, 83, Lorain, passed away Tuesday, December 1, 2015 surrounded by his loving wife, children and grandchildren at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, Lorain, after battling Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Diseases.



He was born September 19, 1932 in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico. He came to Lorain in 1951. Genaro worked for Fruehauf Trailer Co. in Avon Lake and retired from U. S. Steel Lorain works as a Crane Operator. He loved dancing, planting his garden, making his famous dish, Mondongo, singing along to “Los Panchos”. He enjoyed telling his own jokes and was the life of the party. Genaro was very family oriented. He was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain. He was a member of the Crucillo Movement.



He will be deeply missed by his wife Maria Carrion (née Gonzalez); children Robert (Marylin) Carrion of North Ridgeville. Ernesta “Edna” (Fernandez) Baldwin of Berea, Osvaldo “Wally” (Amy) Carrion of Orlando, Florida, Samuel “Sammy” (Debbie) Carrion, of Lorain, Sulma Witherspoon and Jessica (Jose Martinez) Carrion both of Lorain; brothers Domingo Carrion and Felix Carrion both of Lorain and Louis Carrion of Orlando Florida; sisters Ernesta Contreras and Maria Berrios both of Lorain, Inocencia Torres of Lares, Puerto Rico, Felisa Solis Ortiz of Michigan, Sister Joaquina M.S.B.T. of Ponce, Puerto Rico, Isabel Van Deventer of Saline, Michigan, and Regina Medina of Sunrise, Florida., and 12 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.



Genaro was preceded in death by his parents Hermogenes Carrion and Pilar Torres; brothers Ignacio “Yole” Carrion and Felipe Carrion Torres and a sister Paulina Ergh.



His family will receive friends Friday, December 4, 2015 from 4 to 8 PM at the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain. Friends may also call Saturday from 8:30 until the time of Mass at 9:30 AM at Sacred Heart Chapel, 3401 Pearl Avenue, Lorain. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.

I miss you my precious uncle Genaro. May you be celebrating in heaven with your family, saints and our Lord. Rest in peace.
